CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — More tents have appeared on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute for Technology (MIT) as students protest the ongoing war in Gaza.
A growing number of college students are camping out in protest of the war, including at MIT, Tufts University and Emerson College. Encampments were also set up at Harvard University on Wednesday afternoon. The MIT encampment demonstration started on Sunday night on the green space between Kresge Auditorium and the MIT Chapel.

PhD student Daniel Shen is one of the students camping out in protest.
“This is the Scientists Against Genocide encampment set up by the MIT Coalition for Palestine. We’re out here in solidarity with the people of Gaza,” said Shen.
Shen said the encampment has continued to grow since the demonstration began on Sunday.
“We’ve had at this point probably hundreds of students come out here. There’s certainly been ongoing demonstrations on campus against the university’s ties with the Israeli Ministry of Defense,” said Shen.
Shen said the MIT student demonstration is part of a global movement and encouraged others to join.
“I would encourage folks who have questions about what this kind of encampment demonstration is all about [to come out] and chat with other folks out here,” said Shen.
