BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A woman from London was discovered to have 70 pounds of marijuana with her when she was trying to travel to the United Kingdom from Logan Airport.

This is the second time a passenger flying to the U.K. has been arrested for trafficking marijuana at Logan Airport in the last two months.

Fareedat Folunsho, a 19-year-old from London, was attempting to fly to the U.K. on Sunday night when U.S. Customs and Border agents seized the approximately 70 pounds of marijuana in her possession.

Folunsho was charged in East Boston BMC with trafficking marijuana between 50 and 100 pounds, and Judge Joseph Griffin ordered her to be held on $1,500 bail and to surrender her passport.

She will be in court on May 21 for a probable cause hearing.

In late March, a Michigan woman was charged with trafficking marijuana after trying to transport 74 pounds from Logan Airport to London.

Nalexus Palmer was ordered to be held on $3,000 bail, and she will return to court on May 24 for a probable cause hearing.

“These two arrests in a fairly short time span should make it quite clear to anyone else trying to fly marijuana to the U.K. through Boston that it’s not a good idea, to say the least. It didn’t work for these two women and it’s not likely to work for anyone else either,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden in a statement on Tuesday.

Cannabis is illegal in the U.K., as well as in the U.S. on a federal level. It has an illicit-market street value of around $5,000 per pound in the U.K.

In Massachusetts, recreational marijuana use is legal for adults 21 years and older, but individuals can only carry one ounce on their person at a time.
