U.S. Tax Deadline Pushed Back From April 15 To July 15

UPDATE 3/37/20: The Massachusetts income tax filing deadline has been moved to July 15.

(WBZ NewsRadio) — Americans now have three extra months to file their taxes as the deadline has been pushed back amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin made the announcement Friday morning on Twitter, saying the decision was made at the discretion of President Trump.

"We are moving Tax Day from April 15 to July 15. All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties," Secretary Mnuchin wrote. "I encourage all taxpayers who may have tax refunds to file now to get your money."
