BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin is urging all Massachusetts residents who have not already been counted in the 2020 Census to respond by the end of the day on Thursday October 15th.
Galvin's message comes days after the U.S. Supreme Court issued an order allowing the Trump Administration to end the count more than two weeks earlier than planned.
“Stopping this count early will mean that Massachusetts could be shortchanged in federal funding and electoral representation for the next ten years,” Galvin warned. “I strongly encourage anyone who has not already been counted to get counted by tomorrow, whether it is online, over the phone, or by mail.”
The U.S. Census Bureau has announced that door-to-door counting efforts will stop by 11 p.m. Thursday, while the online response system at www.my2020census.gov will remain open until 6 a.m. EST on Friday, October 16th.
Residents may also respond over the phone until 6 a.m. on October 16th. Galvin's office has also listed telephone numbers for the state's census hotlines in 14 different languages.
