BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The cutting shears were buzzing at an annual event raising money for Boston Children's Hospital.
Granite Telecommunications in Quincy hosted the 11th annual 'Saving by Shaving' event that has raised $50 million over the past 10 years for pediatric research and treatment.
Granite donates $2,500 for every head shaved while its CEO Rob Hale matches that donation dollar-for-dollar.
The star-studded event included Governor Maura Healey not only getting a trim herself but shaving the head of former WNBA player Allison Feaster.
Boston Celtic Jrue Holiday got into the act shaving coach Joe Mazzulla.
Kevin from Easton brought along his young son. Both are veterans of this event. "So this is my 10th year doing it, and even though he's just four years old, this is already his third time doing it," he said.
The long line of people waiting to get shaved helped raise the $3.5 million donated to Children's Hospital.
