BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The MSPCA's Law Enforcement Department is opening an animal cruelty investigation and offering a $1,000 reward after a severely emaciated dog was found near Massasoit Community College in Canton.
Dr. Maria Brandifino, the first veterinarian to evaluate the dog, calls it's condition, "one of the worst cases of neglect I have ever seen."
The animal was brought to MSPCA-Angell in Jamaica Plain on July 30th.
The dog, now called "Glitch," is a pit bull mix and weighed less than 15 pounds when found. That's 35 pounds less than it should have weighed.
The animal was treated at Angell Animal Medical Center in Jamaica Plain and has now been moved into faster care.
A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to a felony animal cruelty conviction.
