METHUEN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It's amazing what five dollars can do.

TD Bank employees in Massachusetts and Rhode Island wanted to raise money to do something good this holiday season, so they decided they'd pay off a family's layaway.

Those who wanted to paid $5 to wear jeans to work, and they raised $3,000.

Vice President Ivette Korecki went to the Walmart across the street from their Methuen branch to pay off every Christmas layaway item.

"For us to do that for families today, these children, we know that next week when Christmas comes, they're actually gonna have gifts to open, and the parents don't have that anxiety and stress," she said. "It's so breathtaking, because people that are working—we had a mother of five, we had a young lady that has an autistic son, we had a grandfather who had just lost his job. To see a grown man cry, kind of brings it all together for the holiday."

They've even raised enough money to do it again, this season, at another store.
