LEWISTON, Maine (WBZ NewsRadio) — Maine is still reeling after last week’s mass shootings, but a high school football rivalry helped bring the community together.

Lewiston High School played Edward Little High School in a rivalry game called “The Battle of the Bridge.” This tradition has been around for a century, but this year it was clear that the community needed the game more than ever.

To help kick off the game, James Taylor sang the national anthem. Many local and national celebrities also sent in videos of support that played before the game started, including Will Ferrell, Robert Kraft, Rob Gronkowski and Mac Jones.

After a night of mourning and coming together, Lewiston High School won the game 34-18.
