MARBLEHEAD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Marblehead High School Drama Club received a special message after performing three sold-out shows of "Legally Blonde: The Musical" this weekend.

Actress Jennifer Coolidge sent in a video congratulating the students on their successful production. The video can be seen on MHS Performing and Applied Arts teacher Andrew Scoglio's YouTube page.

Coolidge, a native of Norwell, Massachusetts, starred alongside Reese Witherspoon in the 2001 film "Legally Blonde" on which the musical was based. She recently won Emmy and Golden Globe awards for her performance in the HBO series "The White Lotus."

Scoglio told the Marblehead Current that MHS student Chloe Curtis, who played the lead role of Elle Woods in the musical, has family in California who know Coolidge and invited her to the production. Unable to attend, Coolidge sent the video message instead.

WBZ's Laurie Kirby (@LaurieWBZ) reports.
