BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Fenway Park welcomed hundreds of blood donors inside the 521 Overlook Club for their annual 9/11 Day of Remembrance blood drive on Monday.

Partnering with the American Red Cross, donors got to help their community, while also getting an inside look of Fenway Park.

“It’s great for our donors and it’s great for our volunteers too because we get to be in this beautiful, iconic Boston space to celebrate these acts of service,” said Kelly Isenor, Director of Communications with the American Red Cross.

Jeff Hall with the American Red Cross said that the drive is a chance to reflect on the events of 2001.

“One of the best ways you can give back to your community is by donating blood,” said Hall. “There’s always a need for blood.”

Fenway Park and the American Red Cross provided snacks for donors to rejuvenate and even gave them a close look at some of the World Series trophies.

The American Red Cross reported that there is currently a national blood shortage with blood supply dropping 25 percent since August. For more information about where you can donate blood, visit the American Red Cross website.
