BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) – Governor Charlie Baker is responding to concerns from New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu about Massachusetts’ involvement in the disappearance of seven-year-old Harmony Montgomery of Manchester.

In a letter, Governor Sununu basically blamed Massachusetts authorities for Montgomery’s disappearance. He blasted a court in Lawrence for awarding sole authority of the girl to her father who Sununu called a “monstrous drug dealer.”

While Baker said he totally understood where Sununu was coming, he also sensed a great deal of pain and said the state is doing its part to assist in the investigation.

“We are cooperating to the fullest extent possible that we can with the Office of the Child Advocate (OCA) here in Massachusetts,” Baker explained, “that is reviewing this case and has the ability to access the data that’s necessary to figure out exactly what happened.”

When asked if he thought the judge in the case dropped the ball, Governor baker said he wants to reserve judgment until the OCA completes their review of the case.

“They are there for a reason and they’re there for a purpose,” Baker said. “The reason they’re there is to do independent reviews on complicated cases where people want answers.”

Both governors have equally expressed they want answers. This comes as the reward for information leading to the whereabouts of Harmony Montgomery has gone up to $144,000. Anyone with information is being asked to call 603-203-6060.
