ROCKLAND, Maine (WBZ NewsRadio) — Some shoppers cannot wait for Black Friday to start.

The Rockland Police Department said officers responded to an alarm call at a store Thanksgiving afternoon and found a large front glass window smashed out and items knocked over inside.

Police said they secured the entry and exit points before they began searching the building for any potential burglars.

To their surprise, police discovered the suspect was a white tail deer, the department said.

Officers helped store management herd the animal outside.

Police said the deer was able to leave the building on its own and was not seriously injured.
