Natick Yoga Studio Holding Virtual Classes During Coronavirus Pandemic

NATICK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Hometown Sweat in Natick was forced to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that hasn't stopped owner Maria McBride from teaching yoga.

McBride told WBZ NewsRadio's Suzanne Sausville she's moved to streaming classes online using Zoom, a video communication and conferencing platform.

"We know how life-changing and even life-saving our yoga classes are, and we can't let our community go without accessing classes," McBride said.

She's grateful for the number of people showing up.

"We had 80 people, and normally we cap out at 50 in our physical space," she said. "So, oddly enough, I was sitting alone in my attic teaching this class, and it was the largest class I have ever taught."

McBride said now more than ever, people need to practice yoga, to stay healthy both mentally and physically.

"People practice yoga not to be good at yoga—they practice yoga to deal with stuff like this," she said.
