Massachusetts Now Has 328 Coronavirus Cases

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced 72 new cases of coronavirus in Massachusetts Thursday, the largest single-day rise in the number of cases in the Commonwealth so far.

That means there are now 328 total cases of COVID-19 in the state.

Of those cases, the state said, 43 are hospitalized.

Ninety-seven of the cases were tracked to the Biogen conference held last month at Boston's Marriot Long Wharf hotel, 46 cases were ascribed to local transmission, 34 were deemed travel related, and 151 are still under investigation.

Middlesex County has the most cases with 119, followed by 72 in Suffolk County, 52 in Norfolk County, 19 in Essex County, and 18 in Berkshire County.

The state public health lab has tested 2,208 people for COVID-19, 261 of whom tested positive.

Of the cases, 159 were in males, and 169 were in females.
