Cinema Transforms Into Gymnastics Facility In Waltham

WALTHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — After nine long months, several theaters at the Embassy Cinema in Waltham have been transformed into high ceiling dance halls full of ribbon and sparkle. Smaranda Albeck, owner of the local Rhythmic Gymnastics School has been behind this transformation and has worked tirelessly to successfully pull it off.

“We had to dig down to get to a flat surface, we poured new concrete level and then remodeled the room. It’s been a dream come true [and] it’s been a long road but [also] an amazing journey with awesome support,” said Albeck.

However, this transformation did not just come over nine months alone, Albeck says that it was decades of hard work that made this moment happen, the work of building a community around her sport.

The good news for movie lovers is that the Rhythmic Gymnastics School will not occupy all the space in the Embassy Cinema. Two theaters will be kept for just showing movies with popcorn and real butter too.
