BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — At Boston City Hall on Wednesday, two historic members of Boston's political landscape sat down for a meeting in the Mayor's office. One was Acting Mayor Kim Janey, who is the first woman and person of color to hold the office. The second: newly-minted Mayor-elect Michelle Wu, the first woman and person of color to be elected to the office.

Janey and Wu met to discuss the transition between their administrations, which will take place in two weeks.

Wu did not offer many details on her incoming administration in a briefing with the press, but did make at least one hiring priority clear: the Mayor-elect said one of the first hires she was looking to make was a cabinet-level position to oversee the homelessness and drug abuse situation in the South End around Mass. Ave and Melnea Cass Boulevard.

Janey said most of her advice would be between her and Wu, but did share one tidbit:

"I hope you do love and enjoy the work as much as I do...but that you also make space for joy," she said.
