BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — For International Women's Day on Tuesday, the women representing many Boston businesses gathered to support each other.

"Boston Business Women," a networking group that aims to aid the success of female business leaders and entrepreneurs, met at the woman-owned Flour Bakery in Beacon Hill on Tuesday. Mariah Gale of Boston Business Women said the idea and story sharing event was part of a collaboration with Flour Bakery's Owner Joanne Chang.

The purpose of the social, Gale said, was to show off the vibrancy of the women's business community in Boston.

"It empowers you to step into new places in your business and career that maybe you otherwise wouldn't have stepped into with the support," Gale said.

Over a dozen women, all members of Boston Business Women, discussed how to collaborate with each other while enjoying Flour Bakery hot pink cup sleeves that were specifically designed for the event. The sleeves read, "women have always been powerful." Owner of the Heritage Club, a cannabis-based business, Nike John said the discussions were great for learned success.

"They don't have to necessarily be in the same space, but if there is something that their doing you can ask them how they got there, what steps they took, and use those same steps in whatever you're doing. So I found a ton of amazing female mentors both in cannabis, in business, and in real-estate, and that has helped me so much," John said.
