Boston Bruins Re-Sign Tuuka Rask To One-Year Deal

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Bruins goaltender Tuuka Rask has been signed to a one-year contract with an NHL cap hit of $1 million, team General Manager Don Sweeney announced Tuesday.

The 34-year-old Bruins player was in net for 24 games for the team's 2020-21 season, with a 15-5-2 record with three shutouts. In 11 playoff games, Rask recorded a 6-4-0 record with a 2.36 goals against average and a .919 save percentage.

"In 2020, Rask was nominated for the Vezina Trophy, given annually to the NHL’s beast goaltender as voted on by NHL general managers," said a spokesperson from the Boston Bruins.

On October 23, 2019, Rask became the only goaltender in Bruins history to have reached 500 career NHL game, leading the teams all-time leaderboard with 306 wins, a .921 save percentage, 104 playoff games played, and 57 playoff games won.
