Acton Police: Van Strikes, Kills Pedestrian In Hit-And-Run

ACTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Acton Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run that happened in an area near Concord Road and Alcott Street on Monday morning.

Investigators say preliminary findings indicate a dark-colored van struck a pedestrian and then fled the scene in an unknown direction. But it wasn't long until the van was discovered, it was located after the alleged driver called the APD.

The victim was treated on scene and transported to a local hospital, but succumbed to their injuries. The identity of the victim is not being released until the next of kin has been notified.

A joint investigation between the Middlesex District Attorney's Office and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section is underway.
