BEVERLY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — They usually focus on making garments for priests. But during the shutdown of all non-essential businesses, Theological Threads in Beverly has turned to making face masks for the local medical community battling COVID-19.
The small business has been making clothing for the religious community since 1981. Since last week, staff have been producing sanitary masks and donating them to first responders and healthcare workers.
"For 12 days we've just volunteered and we've just delivered, and we don't charge any of them," said general manager Amra Malicbegovic.
She told WBZ NewsRadio they company can't keep it up long term, but they're glad to be able to help while they can.
"Of course as a company, we are not able survive another month.... But for now it is what it is, and we are so happy to be able to help."
