BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Snail mail is going to cost Americans a little more.
The United States Postal Service's rate hikes for 2024 went into effect Sunday.
The price of a Forever first-class stamp is now 68 cents, up from the previous price of 66 cents.
Domestic postcards will jump from 51 cents to the new price of 53 cents.
The costs of Special Services products such as Certified Mail, P.O. Box rental fees, money order fees and the cost to purchase insurance when mailing an item are also going up.
The additional-ounce price will remain at 24 cents.
The rate hikes are part of a series of price increases under the USPS's "Delivering for America" 10-year plan, enacted by Postmaster General Louis DeJoy in 2021.
