NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — They're the largest animal to have ever lived and now you can marvel at the magnificence of the blue whale at the New Bedford Whaling Museum's newest show, Blue Whales: Return Of the Giants in 3D.

"Embark on a journey of a lifetime and explore the world of the magnificent blue whale," The Museum said on it's website. "From its spectacular feeding habits to the surprising role it plays in the health of our oceans, the film provides an unforgettable window into the lives of these animals- and the extremes scientists must endure to study them."

The film follows a pair of scientific expeditions surrounding blue whales. The first mission details the search for a missing population of the species believed to live in the area of the Seychelles Islands. The other expedition takes the viewer on a journey with whale families in Mexico's Gulf of California.

Daily showings at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
