Man Facing Arson Charges After Two Fires In Dennis Overnight

DENNIS, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - A man from Dedham is in custody and facing a number of charges after two fires were allegedly intentionally set overnight in West Dennis.

Dennis Police began receiving 911 calls just after 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday evening, with callers reporting a large fire in the area of Lower County and Murphy Roads. The Fire department arrived and discovered a shed behind a home on Lower County Road was on fire. After putting out the flames, it became clear to officers the fire was suspicious in nature. Authorities searched the area but found nothing.

Then around 3:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, another 911 call came in, reporting a fire on Windward Road, nearby the first blaze. When officers got on scene, they discovered another shed on fire behind a home.

At the same time, a Dennis Police officers came across a man, who matched the description of the suspect on School Street. The 28 year old was taken into custody and is expected to be arraigned at some point this afternoon. He faces a number of charges including three counts of Arson, two instances of breaking and entering, malicious damage to a motor vehicle, destruction of property, and burning a building.
