BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - Starting today, a number of detours will be in place for those traveling to Terminals B, C and E at Logan Airport. Now the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) is asking those driving to Logan to give themselves extra time to get to and from the airport. Officials are also urging travelers to opt for public transportation to and from the airport while the construction project is underway.

The detours will be in place for the next 11 days, until September 25th.

"The roadway construction is replacing the aging roadway infrastructure along both levels between the terminals." Massport said. "When work is completed, Terminals C and E Departures traffic will be able to use the newly constructed roadway and will no longer have to merge with vehicles exiting Terminal B. The construction will also create more curb space at Terminal C – and reduce congestion on Boston Logan’s roadways — by improving traffic flow and increasing traffic safety. This project is set to be completed this November."

During the roadway project, traffic headed to departure Terminals C and E will be detoured. Traffic to Terminal C will be re-routed to the Arrivals level and Terminal C Ride App area, located in the Central Parking area. Traffic departing from Terminal E will be detoured through Terminal B's departure area.

On September 16th, Terminal C and E arrivals will be re-routed through Terminal B arrivals.

For those picking up friends, family, and other passengers at Logan, officials are asking people to utilize the airport's two Cell Phone Parking Lots to help congestion at the terminal curbs. Massachusetts State Police will be on the ground, helping reroute drivers.
