SALEM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Are you looking for something spooky to do this weekend? Head to the witch city.
The Salem Horror Fest is back, with 100 movies playing on six different screens around the city this weekend and next. And it's the first time the celebration of fright has taken place in the spring.
Festival director Kay Lynch says the theme this year is 'folk horror.'
"So, being in spring, I wanted to do something a little natural and organic feeling," she told WBZ NewsRadio's Brooke McCarthy. "I think being in springtime has a whole different vibe. Obviously, it's not as crazy on the streets, which does have its charm."
Kay is hoping to bring people together with the power of horror — and what better place than the Halloween capitol of the world?
In her words, it's all about "being able to let go and scream! Because what good is having a voice if you can't scream?"
Kay says even if you're not a fan of horror, there's something for everyone, and lots of different angles to the genre to explore.
