BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — With baseball games on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic, the question remains up in the air whether season ticket holders will be able to get a refund.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Major League Baseball told teams they could decide on their own refund policies. But because games are not officially cancelled, but rather postponed, it is possible ticket holders could be given credit for next season.
The Red Sox organization is expected to make a decision on their own refund policy as soon as Wednesday, according to the Boston Globe.
The Red Sox were supposed to play their first game at Fenway Park on April 2.
Back in mid-March, the team said the "health and safety of our fans, players, and employees is of paramount importance. We thank them for their patience and support during this unprecedented time. We support Major League Baseball's decision to suspend their Spring Training games and to delay the start of the 2020 regular season."
They also previously told Spring Training Season Ticket Holders that they will be issued a credit for the 2021 season at JetBlue Park.
