CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Cambridge Public Health Department says that 212 workers and residents at skilled nursing and assisted living facilities in the city have tested positive for COVID-19.
All residents, healthcare workers, and staff at seven of these facilities were tested by the Broad Institute through pilot program that was launched on April 9.
It's currently unclear how many of the 212 who tested positive were workers and how many were residents. That information is expected to come soon.
Another 256 residents in Cambridge have also tested positive between early March and April 12.
The Health Department says they are "working with the facilities to provide guidance on 'cohorting' patients, which means putting those who have tested positive together and those who have tested negative together and apart from the positive cases."
