Simon Malls To Close Every Property In The U.S.

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Simon Malls will be closing all retail locations across the nation in the hopes of slowing the spread of COVID-19.

Starting Wednesday March 18 at 7 p.m., all Simon Property Group locations, including Malls, Premium Outlets and Mills in the U.S will close until March 29.

The closures will impact more than a dozen malls in Massachusetts, including:

Auburn Mall, Burlington Mall, Cape Cod Mall, Copley Place, Emerald Square Mall, Lee Premium Outlets, Liberty Tree Mall, Liberty Tree Strip, Northshore Mall, South Shore Plaza, Solomon Pond Mall, Square One Mall, Shops at Chestnut Hill, and Wrentham Outlets.

"The health and safety of our shoppers, retailers and employees is of paramount importance and we are taking this step to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our communities," said David Simon, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Simon Property Group.

The company said the decision came after "extensive discussions with federal, state and local officials."
