Peabody City Officials Looking To Sell Historic Mansion

PEABODY, Mass (WBZ NewsRadio) — Are you in the market for a Mansion? If you are you might want to check the one that’s for sale in Peabody.

The O'Shea Mansion in downtown Peabody has been vacant for years.

The city took it over by eminent domain several years ago and now would like to sell the property.

James Hafey, the facility director for the city says they don't make them like this anymore.

“The detail is extraordinary, it’s unmatched” Hafey said.

Built in the late 1800s the property is assessed at more than $1 million dollars.

The city will sell it to the right developer for $750,000, but the developer has to commit to maintaining the historic nature of this historic building.

“There’s a tree out in front of the house,” Hafey said “and that’s where allegedly the local militia minutemen met before the marched out to Lexington before that battle.”
