MILTON, Mass. (WBZ-AM) — Late President George H.W. Bush has roots in the Boston area. The former president was born in the town of Milton.
A plaque marks the house on Adams Street in Milton where Bush was born on June 12, 1924. Area residents have been coming to the house to pay respects to the late president, including planting flags at the site.
Resident Ed Keohane was among those paying their respects at the site. Keohane grew up down the street from the house.
“I think it’s a sad day, but it’s a poignant day,” Keohane said. “I think as someone who grew up in the town, I remember the president coming here when they dedicated this marker.”
Late President Bush was born in a second-floor bedroom at the Milton house. He was the last president to be born in a home.
