Emerson Poll Shows Capuano At Top; Pressley Not Out

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Just over a month out from Primary Day Congressman Michael Capuano appears to be ahead in the fight to keep his seat.  A new poll from Emerson College shows that Ayanna Pressley might be down but not out.

Spencer Kimball of Emerson College Polling says about two-thirds of eligible voters in the race have a pretty clear idea of who they're going to vote for. When it comes to the youth vote, Boston city councilor Ayanna Pressley appears to be out in front. But women overall are leaning toward Capuano, along with older voters.

When it comes to Black and Hispanic voters, Kimball says a large majority are undecided, and that could leave room for Pressley to make a move.

"Voters aren't sure if, you know - they've been voting for Capuano all of this time. They have a candidate in Pressley they like as well and they're on the fence right now. Both candidates are going to have to make the case of who those undecided voters are going to break to. That's what's going to decide this election."

He says, at this point, Capuano is just doing his best to run out the clock.
