AMESBURY, MA (WBZ-AM) -- An Amesbury Police Officer is accused of assaulting his autistic son. Larry Bybee was released on his own recognizance, under the conditions that he stay away from his two children and undergo random drug and alcohol testing.

Bybee allegedly hit his 14-year-old autistic son in the nose on June 13. The police report states the boy ran into the bathroom, with Bybee following behind him. Bybee is then accused of slamming his son's head into the wall three times while the boy was staying with him for the weekend.

He told investigators his dad was drunk at the time and had been mocking his speech impediment, calling him a "spaz" and other derogatory names.

The teen says the mocking is a regular occurrence and his dad often is intoxicated.
