BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Fenway Park brought quite a crowd this weekend for the 3rd annual Fenway Card Show. WBZ NewsRadio’s Suzanne Sausville was there and says that there were 200 sports cars and memorabilia vendors.

People were walking from table to table showing off their card collections to vendors and trying to make a deal. The ages of participants ranged with one ten-year-old named Mattie, who was offered $15 for one of his cards and made a counteroffer of $16.

“I just had to go one more dollar,” Mattie said.

“I have one card that’s maybe [worth] around $100 or $200,” he added.

WBZ NewsRadio also spoke with Chris Costa, the co-founder of Card Vault, who puts on the card show.

“When I see a Mickey Mantle rookie or a Michael Jordan rookie or a Jackie Robinson rookie card from the 1940’s, it’s hard to not get excited. It’s a piece of history,” Costa said.

Costa also emphasized that the event was designed for everyone, not just card collectors.

“Or you could be an avid collector and get eight figures worth of business in one weekend, there’s some serious deals going down [here],” he added.

Tyler Santiago, a serious collector, made the trip from New Jersey to take part in the festivities.

“This show is just different, you’re in a cathedral of baseball so it’s pretty dope,” he said.

In addition to the trading, there were other activities that card show attendees could take part in such as throwing a baseball and seeing how far it would go.
