Former FBI Special Agent: Fla. Suspect Showed Red Flags

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- After Wednesday's school shooting that claimed 17 lives in Parkland, Florida, many around the country are asking, how could this possibly happen again?

ABC News security contributor and former FBI special agent Steve Gomez told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Suzanne Sausville there were a lot of red flags, including what, on the surface, would appear to be a very strong indicator of the shooter's frame of mind.

"What's most concerning is the information that came out that there was a YouTube blog that apparently came from a Nikolas Cruz--not knowing if it is this suspect--that the FBI was made aware of, and they were not able to determine who that person really was," Gomez said. "If that's the case, how many other violent rhetoric blogs is the FBI aware of where they can't determine who that individual truly is, so they can go out and investigate them and stop them from doing an attack?"

Sausville and Gomez also talked about whether or not going through active shooter drills may have given the suspect an advantage in his rampage.
