WORCESTER (WBZ-AM) -- Police arrested a 14-year-old and three other teens who they say stole two cars Wednesday.
Worcester Police said the 14-year-old approached a man in his car around 3:30 p.m. on King Street.
They said the boy asked the man for a ride, and pulled out what appeared to be a handgun from his waistband when the man refused.
The man got out, and the teen took off in his Honda.
As police arrived to attempt to talk to the victim, they got a call about a suspect trying to steal a car just a few blocks away on Newbury Street.
The victim, a 63-year-old woman, She told police a teen approached her car with a gun in hand and ordered her out. She said she screamed, and the teen ran away.
Officers believed the same teen was responsible for both incidents.
A short time later, Worcester Police saw a young man who fit the description of the suspect teen in a grey Mazda, and stopped that car on Fruit Street by Pleasant Street.
When officers stopped the car, two teens--including the suspect--ran out.
They chased and caught the 14-year-old after he ran into a business on Sever Street and tried to hide under a desk. The two victims later identified him as the one who had ordered them out of their cars at gunpoint.
That gun, which was discovered to be a BB gun, was recovered.
The 14-year-old was charged with two counts of carjacking, assault with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a BB gun.
The other teens in the car, a second 14-year-old and two 16-year-olds, were charged with carjacking, using a motor vehicle without authority, assault with a dangerous weapon, and accessory after the fact.
The fifth suspect, who ran out of the car at the same time as the 14-year-old, is still being sought.
The car stolen on King Street was recovered not far from where it was taken.
