BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Boston police are looking for whoever’s responsible for the shooting death of a man in East Boston late Sunday afternoon.

Police say a man was shot dead in a car around 5 p.m. near the intersection of Orleans and marginal streets in East Boston:

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans tells WBZ-TV he believes the victim and the shooter knew each other:

He says he believes the man was shot inside a black SUV then pushed out of the vehicle.

Police are looking for that SUV. The shooting happened down the street from a restaurant and police have asked that restaurant for security camera footage, as they look for evidence and persons connected.

WBZ News Radio1030’s Carl Stevens reports.
