92-Year-Old Quincy Woman Back Home After Attack

QUINCY (WBZ-AM) -- A 92-year-old woman woke up in her own home this morning for the first time since she was robbed, assaulted, and injured near her home last month.

To welcome her home, Doris Prendiville's friends held a pizza party for her.

"They're wonderful, I love them all!" she told WBZ-TV.

Doris still finds it hard to believe she was attacked.

"You simply don't register that there are people mean enough to do it," she said.

Quincy Police arrested Markell Cruz, 27 of Somerville, and Kayla Noel-Brown, 26 of Quincy, last week.

They said Cruz pushed Prenderville to the ground on Nov. 19 behind the CVS on Clay Street. Doris's sternum was cracked.

Cruz was ordered held without bail--but Noel-Brown had her bail set at $25,000, because police said she helped Doris up and into her apartment building.

"Maybe she wasn't the nicest person in the world, but that little bit of help of getting me from the walkway and in here made a difference," Prendiville said.

Now that she's safe at home with friends, she said she's ready to put the whole thing behind her.

"I've always been able to put something on like a blackboard and mentally erase it," she said.
